TikTok has turned off the gift feature on Salwan Momika’s account. He had faced criticism for making money by live-streaming the burning of the Quran. This move seriously affects his business, says Internet analyst Mattias Beijmo.
The social media platform TikTok confirmed to Ekot that they deactivated the gift function on Salwan Momika’s account, reducing his income on TikTok. This action comes after both the company and Momika were criticized for profiting from live-streaming the Quran burning.

Previously, Salwan Momika explained that he used TikTok to share his views about Islam and the Quran with the Swedes, aiming to be philosophical and informative instead of spreading hatred, as he told TT.
The company has not given details about the reason behind this decision. TV4 Nyheterna sought comments from TikTok, even visiting their headquarters in Stockholm, where they were informed that the Director of Communications, Parisa Khosravi, was not available.
